Fall Arts Fair 2011

Karl Abbott Photography will be exhibiting at the Pullen and Sertoma Arts Centers' Fall Arts Fair on Saturday, October 15, 2011. This fair will be held at the Pullen Arts Center in Raleigh, NC from 10am - 5 pm.

For sale, I will have prints on canvas and metal in addition to lustre and giclee prints. Also for sale, I will have the 2012 Isle of Skye calendar and the 2012 North Carolina Mountains calendar.

I look forward to seeing everyone who can make it!

At the top of the mountain enshrouded in clouds,

New Beginnings

Just as every day marks a new beginning, there are times when new beginnings are needed for ongoing efforts. Such is the case with this blog, once called "A Series of Posts." This blog will now be named "the art of focus" and will highlight my best work. I also plan on blogging the stories behind some of my images.

The image above is of the sun rising with the peaks of the Black Mountains on the left. Mt. Craig and Big Tom are most noticeable. The image was taken at the top of Mt. Mitchell. To get to Mt. Mitchell for sunrise during the summer months, one must stay at the campground and hike up the Campground Spur trail to the Old Mitchell trail. While this is quite the hike, it's even more interesting in the final moments of darkness before the sun rises over the horizon. Couple that with the fact that you never know what the weather will be like at the summit and you have quite the early morning adventure!
